Alaskan Wildlife Safari Itinerary
2027 Alaskan Wildlife Safari Itinerary
July 23-29, 2027: 7 Days, 6 Nights
Day 1: Arrive Anchorage
Arrive at Anchorage Airport, where you'll be met by your tour representative in the baggage claim area. Transfer to your hotel and meet your Tour Director for an overview of the days ahead.
Overnight: Anchorage
Day 2: Katmai Bear Viewing or Kenai Fjords Cruise
The group splits today. Bear viewing capacity is limited to 22 guests per day, so half the group flies to Katmai National Park while the other half travels to Seward for a Kenai Fjords cruise.
Bear viewing group: Fly to Katmai National Park for a full-day visit to Brooks Falls, where elevated boardwalks connect three viewing platforms for close, unobstructed bear watching. A 10–12 hour day; flights are weather dependent and guests must provide their weight to participate.
Cruise group: Travel by motorcoach along Turnagain Arm and the Seward Highway to Seward. Board a vessel for a 6-hour cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park, watching for whales, seals, and puffins with an onboard naturalist. Return to Anchorage by motorcoach.
Overnight: Anchorage Meals: Breakfast; box lunch (bear viewing group) or light lunch on the cruise (Kenai Fjords group)
Day 3: Katmai Bear Viewing or Kenai Fjords Cruise
The group splits again, with guests completing whichever experience — Katmai bear viewing or the Kenai Fjords cruise — they did not do on Day 2.
Overnight: Anchorage Meals: Breakfast; box lunch (bear viewing group) or light lunch on the cruise (Kenai Fjords group)
Day 4: Anchorage to Denali
Board a deluxe dome railcar for a scenic morning journey to Talkeetna (approx. 8:20 am–11:05 am). From there, continue by motorcoach toward Denali, stopping for a two-hour jet boat trip on the Susitna River — watch for nesting bald eagles and beaver activity — and a visit to an original trapper's cabin from turn-of-the-century "Bush" Alaska. Continue by motorcoach to Denali.
Overnight: Denali Meals: Breakfast (on the rails), Dinner
Day 5: Denali National Park
Join a Denali Natural History Tour (4.5–5 hours) with a naturalist guide covering the park's history, wildlife, and landscape. The rest of the day is free to explore Denali further with an optional activity arranged through your Tour Director — guided walks, helicopter tours, or fixed-wing flightseeing are available. In the evening, enjoy a Cabin Nite Dinner.
Overnight: Denali Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day 6: Denali to Anchorage
Travel by motorcoach back toward Anchorage, stopping at the Denali National Park Visitor Center to explore exhibits, speak with a ranger, or walk nearby trails. Visit a local sled dog kennel to learn about training for Alaska's "Last Great Race." Finish the day with a city tour of Anchorage, including Earthquake Park, the Mushing District, and Lake Hood.
Overnight: Anchorage Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day 7: Depart Anchorage
Transfer to the airport for your flight home, bringing your Alaska adventure to a close.
Meals: Breakfast
